Festo Corporation Mechanical Engineer in Billerica, Massachusetts
Job Descriptions:
Responsible for product design and fulfilment of product specifications according the corporate development process for global liquid handling products within the Life Science market
Develop innovative and cost-effective designs for manufacturing products that can be scaled up for cost reduction and high-volume production
Carry ideas and projects from early concept all the way through manufacturing
Perform detailed project planning and documentation of each product development phase
Participate in design reviews that include ME, EE and SW engineers and ensure high quality design reviews with excellent documentation
Review/analyze whether current products and processes comply with industry standards such as ISO 13485, and corporate regulations and standards
Build and test prototype designs for proof of concept
Develop solutions to design problems through application of engineering principles and empirical methods
Solicit design input from product management, research, sales and other stakeholders to develop new concepts
Utilize the change management process to manage documentation and product changes
Required Experience:
Above average B.S. or M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or similar required with automation/ life science industry experience
Several years of professional experience in Life Science environment, with proven track record of launching complex automation projects involving multinational/multicultural R&D teams
Expert in CAD Design with at least 5 years of experience with CREO CAD software or similar tools
Have experience with Simulation Tools (Screw, Spring, O-Ring…) and other computer modeling techniques
Possess a good understanding of polymeric materials and manufacturing techniques, specifically injection molding, extrusion, diffusion bonding
Expert in Automation Technology, Diagnostic Devices and Fluid Dynamics
Knowledge of process development activities such as qualification, validation, design of experiments, FMEA and design for manufacturing
Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as 3D printing, machining, injection molding, etc
Extensive knowledge of Technology concepts, technical standards and methodologies in the life science sector
Experience working in a regulated environment (ISO/ FDA).
Can show proven success in an atmosphere with varying amounts of ambiguity, but still able to set and deliver on plans with proven processes.
Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment
Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
Extensive knowledge of key tools used for analysis, testing and development for liquid handling systems
Proficient in new and emerging technologies
Demonstrated strong documentation and organization skills
Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills
