Cabot Corporation Director Global Benefits and HR Operations in Billerica, Massachusetts

The Director, Global Benefits and HR Operations will be responsible for overseeing the effective design, implementation, and management of a portfolio of benefits offerings to Cabot employees worldwide – ensuring that these offerings are cost and market competitive and administered efficiently and effectively. Additionally, the role is responsible for leading Cabot’s Global HR operations - ensuring that the delivery of Cabot’s HR services meet business, service level, and cost requirements. The position oversees the design and continuous improvement of core HR processes and policies and partnering with management, employees and vendors to drive operational excellence and delivery across all HR Shared Services (Benefits administration, Payroll, HRIS, Talent Analytics, and Cost Analysis & Control). This role will manage a team and be responsible for development and deployment of potential new, fit-for-purpose platforms for HR service delivery: HRIS technologies, shared services offerings, and outsourcing alternatives.

Global Benefits

  • Serve as Chair of Cabot’s Benefits Committee and drive the development, implementation, and continuous review of a multi-year benefits strategy balancing emerging trends, market competitiveness and cost.

  • Ensure benefit plans are competitive and renewals are timely and cost effective for over 20 countries in which Cabot has employees.

  • Ensure, with the appropriate internal and external resources, the annual review, design and implementation of global benefit plans, including retirement (DB and DC), health, dental, vision, disability, life and other benefit offerings, ensuring that plans are market competitive and cost effective.

  • Oversee Cabot's global relocation & mobility program ensuring that staff relocation and/or expatriate experience with Cabot meets business requirements and delivers a positive experience to the program participants.

  • Coordinate partner vendors to ensure innovative thinking and sound analyses in making benefit decisions that support business priorities.

  • Plan all benefit communications in a way which ensures active employee participation and understanding of Cabot Corporation benefit offerings.

  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory agencies worldwide.

  • Develop and manage the annual global benefits budget, including quarterly forecasts and variance explanations.

Global HR Operations

  • Develop and implement and continuously evaluate an HR Operations strategy for Cabot which ensures the HR function delivers an exceptional user experience to employees and candidates. This strategy would consider multiple delivery channels for HR services — from automated technologies, local HR support, and shared services or outsourced service providers.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain effective HR processes to ensure effective and efficient delivery of HR services and integrity/accuracy of HR data.

  • Facilitate continuous process improvement of the user experience with HR through partnerships within the HR organization and throughout the enterprise.

  • Proactively audit and coordinate established procedures, systems and standards for overall HR operations.

  • Track, analyze, and communicate key success metrics as they relate human resource programs & operations.

  • Proactively stay up-to-date on industry trends, continuously evaluating and implementing best practices as appropriate.

  • Effectively manage and partner with external vendors, including but not limited to leading RFP processes and less formal processes, to select, hire and onboard vendors

  • Ensure data integrity and identify opportunities to leverage technology and/or streamline processes.

U.S. Benefits & Payroll Administration

  • Oversee the management of the overall Benefits administration to ensure efficient processing of benefits and effective coordination with payroll and HRIS and other HR partners

  • Ensure employee questions and issues are addressed effectively and in a timely manner keeping in mind a high-quality service orientation

  • Oversee the management of payroll preparation, ensuring its accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with applicable laws

  • Oversee the analysis of HR/Payroll reports as well as regulatory/ compliance reports (e.g. EEO-1; 401k discrimination testing, etc.).

  • Oversee the implementation of a new time and attendance system (Ultimate Software)

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field

  • 10+ years of experience in designing and administering comprehensive US and global benefit programs in a public company environment. Experience working in a global manufacturing company known as a great place to work highly desirable

  • 5+ years of people leadership experience

  • Strong strategic, analytic, problem-solving and organizational skills

  • Ability to take initiative and work independently

  • Collaborative approach to working with internal customers and experience managing external benefit partners and other third-party vendors

  • Team player who responds to challenge with a sense of urgency

  • Superb customer service ethic with outstanding interpersonal skills
