We are currentlyseeking Deep Learning / Computer Vision Research Software Engineer to join theCross-cutting Urgent Innovation Cell (CUIC), an organization that is unique toMITRE because:

We are looking for talented problemsolvers with a passion for adapting emerging academic and commercialtechnologies to develop cross-cutting innovative solutions for the defense,intelligence, and civilian communities.
We are seeking individualswith expertise in machine learning, algorithm development and/or deep learning.Candidates do not need experience in all these areas but should have strongproficiency and hands-on experience in at least one.
As a member of CUIC,your day-to-day work will be in one or more of the following:
Applyyour knowledge of computer vision, remote sensing or machine learning to avariety of challenging problems by developing software prototypes to measurethe feasibility of an algorithm/approach.
Adaptresearch done in academia and industry to solve critical national securityproblems important to both the defense and intelligence communities.
Codein Python, C , or other languages to prototype/test algorithms and softwaretools in a team environment.
White-board(i.e. brainstorm, problem solve) with experienced technical staff to developsolutions for challenging problems, work with a small team to implement/testthose solutions, and then quantify their accuracy.
Analyzedata from cutting-edge sensor systems, including visible, infrared, andhyperspectral imagery and video.
Designand develop code architectures for the retrieval, processing, fusion, analysis,and visualization of various datasets by leveraging backend/frontend softwareand integrating various data platforms to support rapid analytics.
Learnnew techniques and approaches on-the-job by leveraging both structurededucational content as well as expertise from team members.
Maintainfull responsibility for deliverables-including definition, completion, andtechnical quality, as well as assuring consistency across the responsibilityspan.
Bachelor'sdegree and 3 years of experience in computer science, data science, appliedmathematics/statistics, operation research, or other physicalscience/engineering fields.
Mustmeet eligibility requirements for TS/SCI level security clearance (Applicants selected for this positionwill be subject to a government security investigation).
Strongproblem-solving skills and capable of working with scientists, analysts, andtechnical software developers across several technical disciplines.
Strongsoftware development and/or algorithmic scripting skills, preferably withknowledge of machine learning and/or deep learning frameworks.
4years of experience working technical challenges associated with machinelearning and/or computer vision.
Experiencecleaning and wrangling real-world messy data.
Domainknowledge of machine learning and computer vision techniques forclassification, detection, key attribute extraction, segmentation, or activitydetection.
Hands-onexperience using deep learning and computer vision libraries such as PyTorch,TensorFlow, Caffe, OpenCV, and scikit-image.
Practicalexperience in statistics and linear algebra.
Experiencewith modern source control software and methodology, including version controlwith Git and code reviews in a GitHub Flow-like development workflow.
Experiencewith object-oriented programming and principles, in Python or C
Proficiencywith Python's scientific computing and machine learning ecosystem such asNumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, and scikit-learn.
Comfortabilityworking with Linux-based environments and servers.
Additional(Nice-to-Have but Not Required) Qualifications:
Experiencewith parallel processing, including Python multithreading and multiprocessing,distributed and shared memory parallelism with MPI and OpenMP in C , and/orCUDA for NVIDIA GPUs.
Experiencewith containerization and deployment of portable code with Docker orSingularity.
Familiaritywith computational geometry and visual navigation.
