MITRE’s Nuclear Enterprise Programs Division has an excellent opportunity to be part of a dynamic technical team having substantial impact on the design and development of next generation DoD communications systems. Our work focuses on Satellite Communications, HF and VLF communications in a benign and Nuclear environment.

We are seeking to hire highly motivated engineers with interest and skills in communications systems design, software development, networking, modeling and simulation. Join our team and apply your technical expertise by developing, applying, prototyping and testing state-of-the-art digital communications technologies, such as:

  • Ground and Airborne Satellite communications terminals

  • Beyond Line of Sight (BLOS) communications terminals in HF and VLF frequencies

  • Proliferated LEO Satellite Networks

  • Next Generation Networking

    Responsibilities may include:

  • Leading teams performing communications systems development, analysis and testing through requirements management, systems design, systems integration, and test

  • Develop and evaluate RF systems that leverage commercial and military systems such as SATCOM, line-of-sight (LOS) VHF, UHF, and HF radio systems.

  • Analyze systems operating concepts and provide recommendations on how these can be applied to next generation communications architectures.

  • Work in collaboration with other engineers and technicians in a team environment with the development and execution of test procedures in support of existing and developmental digital communication systems.

  • Analyze and resolve integrated communications hardware and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

  • Clearly and concisely communicating highly technical analyses and recommendations to sponsor and partner personnel in written and verbal products

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline and 5 years of relevant experience

  • Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in RF/communications systems engineering or a related field

  • Demonstrated experience with any of the following: communications theory, microwave engineering, link budgets, communications protocols such as FDMA or TDMA, antenna design, networking, etc.

  • Proficiency with C++ or Python or MATLAB, or other modeling tools, data analysis,

  • Experience using field and lab equipment (oscilloscope, network analyzer, BERT, or spectrum analyzer)

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills

  • Provides solutions to complex multi-disciplinary engineering problem-sets; looks beyond existing methodologies and resources to develop innovative and effective solutions in solving problems

  • Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance which will require US citizenship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters OR PhD degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline

  • 8 years of relevant experience

  • C/C++, Python, MATLAB, or other modeling tools, data analysis, field and lab testing equipment

  • Software development, debugging, and support

  • Experience writing VHDL or Verilog for FPGAs

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills

  • Possess an active Top Secret clearance
