Job Description:

MITRE's Mechanical & Reliability Systems and Prototype Development Department is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to perform mechanical and environmental analyses for ground, airborne and shipboard systems.

The successful candidate will:

  • Work with cross-functional technical teams comprised of both in-house and sponsor personnel in the development and evaluation of command and control systems.

  • Perform dynamics, structural, and thermofluids analyses at the component, individual item, and system level.

  • Be responsible for deliverables or parts of deliverables to sponsors.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years’ experience

  • Experience using CAD software and generating and interpreting mechanical drawings

  • Experience conducting engineering analyses in the areas of structures, dynamics, and thermofluids, including the application of Finite Element Analysis techniques

  • Ability to scope and perform mechanical engineering tasks autonomously

  • Ability to obtain DoD Secret Clearance

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site

Preferred Qualifications:

  • M.S. and/or PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering

  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environmental and demonstrated excellence and effectiveness of written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience with SolidWorks CAD tools

  • Experience with ANSYS (e.g. Workbench, APDL, Mechanical, LS-Dyna, CFX, Fluent, Icepak)

  • High-level computational skills in large scale simulations, data analysis, and programming

  • Demonstrated ability to lead independent research tasks. Experience proposing and conducting technical research projects.
