Department Summary:
MITRE is seeking an influential Senior Manager FP&A, Treasury and Investments to lead the finance team responsible for supporting MITRE’s Treasury & Cash Management and Accounts Receivable teams. The Senior Manager is responsible for enabling both teams to create an Operational Excellence culture and process. Operational Excellence at MITRE includes Resource Utilization, Customer Service, and Efficiency. This role requires strong partnering and analytical framing capabilities. As a strategic advisor and business partner, you will support management with the financial impacts of key business decisions and the financial management of the organization’s strategic initiatives. You will also lead and execute the transformation efforts of MITRE’s indirect cost management.
The Senior Manager is also responsible for managing and developing a team of financial professionals in various MITRE locations.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Management Responsibilities:
Providing leadership, mentorship, guidance, and career development to staff
Recruit and hire high quality candidates in the cash vertical space
Ensuring timely and quality delivery of services across individual staff members
Works with staff to specify performance expectations (outcomes, deliverables, metrics)
Being a collaborative partner within the Finance Leadership Team
Being a sought after thought leader amongst peers, staff, and stakeholders
Drive operational improvement and scalability by developing repeating analysis
Identify and quantify risks and opportunities and enable leadership insights and strategic direction
Lead cash vertical long-term planning, forecasting, and strategy
Individual Contributor Responsibilities:
Development and delivery of high-value operational excellence processes and procedures
Understanding and communication of the financial results and identification of actions required to realize opportunities and mitigate risks
Development and delivery of executive level briefings
Delivery of high priority enterprise level initiatives
This role is accountable for a robust and evolving set of stakeholder relationships to ensures efficient management of the organization's finances, minimizes risk, and supports strategic objectives:
Internal Stakeholders
Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Engagement: Reports on cash flow, liquidity, and financial risk management.
Purpose: Ensure alignment with overall financial strategy and corporate objectives.
Treasury Team
Engagement: Collaboration on cash management, funding strategies, and liquidity forecasting.
Purpose: Effective execution of treasury operations and efficient management of cash positions.
Sector and Corporate Finance Teams
Engagement: Coordinating budgeting, financial planning, and forecasting activities.
Purpose: Provide accurate data for financial reporting and strategic planning.
Accounting and Compliance
Engagement: Ensure proper accounting for treasury transactions, such as debt and investments.
Purpose: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and accurate financial reporting.
EBSOD & EI&I
Engagement: Manage treasury management software, payment processing tools, and automation platforms.
Purpose: Streamline treasury operations and improve efficiency in cash management.
Corporate Legal Team
Engagement: Review of legal aspects of financial contracts, debt issuance, and financial policies.
Purpose: Ensure regulatory compliance and minimize legal risks in financial transactions.
Risk Management Team
Engagement: Discuss financial risks, including interest rate, foreign exchange, and commodity price risks.
Purpose: Identify and mitigate financial risks affecting the organization.
External Stakeholders
Banks and Financial Institutions
Engagement: Manage relationships for cash management, debt financing, and banking services.
Purpose: Secure favorable terms for financing, liquidity management, and banking operations.
Rating Agencies
Engagement: Communication regarding the company’s credit rating, financial health, and risk management practices.
Purpose: Maintain or improve the company’s credit rating to secure competitive financing rates.
Auditors (Internal and External)
Engagement: Collaboration on financial audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Purpose: Maintain transparency and accuracy in financial statements and regulatory filings.
External Advisors and Consultants
Engagement: Seek advice on debt issuance, refinancing, and optimal capital structure.
Purpose: Optimize funding strategies and reduce borrowing costs.
Key Competencies:
Ability to apply a broad range of analytical techniques to identify business issues, opportunities, and risks
Ability to develop tools and frameworks to identify problems and propose solutions
Ability to understand the implications of decisions at a business unit level and the connection to the enterprise overall, including impact to metrics (Rates & Price)
Ability to lead and collaborate to resolve inconsistencies between the assumptions, beliefs, and processes to increase the likelihood of achieving business objectives
Knows and understands MITRE’s Code of Ethics and Conduct and consistently models behaviors that are consistent with those values
Basic Qualifications:
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field and a minimum of 12 years related experience within finance and/or accounting, ideally within the US Government (Federal) sector. Equivalent education and experience will also be considered.
Experience managing, leading and developing a team of finance professionals
Demonstrated experienced in successfully managing executive level relationships
Ability to partner with budget owners to determine appropriate prioritizations and impact of trade-off decisions on financial metrics
Proven ability to communicate complex financial information to non-finance professionals
Working knowledge of CAS & FAR regulations
Embraces change as a catalyst for growth, proactively adapting behaviors and strategies to navigate and capitalize on evolving circumstances effectively
Builds consensus and negotiates outcomes to the satisfaction of all parties across the business unit
Proactive self-starter who executes to commitments

This position requires a minimum of 4 days per week on-site.
Preferred Qualifications:
MBA is preferred
Previous experience managing Corporate FP&A functions
Experience with Deltek Costpoint, Tableau, and/or Cognos Analytics is a plus
