Do you want to join a technical team performing cutting edge engineering work and developing novel approaches to solve the next generation’s wireless communications and signal processing challenges? MITRE's Communications, Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), and Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) department is seeking engineers and scientists who are interested in developing, applying, and evaluating state-of-the-art communications systems. In this position, you will apply and build your technical expertise towards furthering the public good by developing, applying, and evaluating state-of-the-art communication technologies.
Typical projects include:
Performing detailed modeling and simulation of communications and/or sensor systems
Understanding of LTE/ 5G protocols and Massive Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO)
Providing data processing and theoretical analysis for performance assessments
Developing techniques to detect, locate, and identify signals
Developing secure communications and signal intelligence capabilities
Exploring, developing, and assessing waveform capabilities
Prototyping waveforms or algorithms in Software Defined Radios or other hardware capabilities
Assessing communications device limitations and providing recommendations for potential improvements
Performing device testing in labs and at field tests
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related discipline
Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances
Ability to obtain and maintain a US Secret security clearance
Technical background in one of the following areas:
Digital Signal Processing
Statistical Signal Processing
Detection & Estimation Theory
Digital Communications (Physical and MAC layers)
Wireless Communications
MIMO and array signal processing
Engineering mathematics: calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, and stochastic processes
Preferred Qualifications:
0 to 6 years of related professional experience.
MS or PhD in electrical engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, mathematics, physics, or related discipline preferred
Professional experience applying the following:
RF communications theory, including modulations, link budgets, error correction coding, propagation, channel effects, communications protocols, etc.
Digital signal processing, detection and estimation theory, information theory, array processing, and spectral analysis methods
Experience with military or commercial communications systems
Knowledge of anti-jam (AJ) and low probability of intercept/detection (LPI/LPD) communication techniques
Experience with MATLAB, Python, C++, or other modeling and data analysis software tools
Technical leadership and innovation in developing technical solutions
Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills
The ability to build collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with people of different backgrounds
The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret/SCI clearance
Knowledge of stochastic processes and probabilistic modeling techniques
