MITRE is seeking an innovative and collaborative MITRE Product Library Collections Manager to work on a variety of projects supporting management, curation, discovery, dissemination, and preservation of project deliverables.

The MITRE Product Library (MPL) is an enterprise-level system of repositories that house MITRE’s key information assets. The incumbent will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the MPL. On a tactical level, this means efficiently building and cataloging digital collections and overseeing data curation and stewardship in the repositories. Strategically, the role includes managing a major multi-year enhancement and architecture project, establishing governance policies and procedures, setting priorities in consultation with ECIS Leadership and MITRE stakeholders, and directing the efforts of IT architects and specialists. The role requires a deep understanding of digital content creation, content management systems, knowledge of metadata and digitization standards, rules and tools, as well as the ability to work with and define requirements for web developers, search engineers and downstream consumers.

The MITRE Product Library Collections Manager works in close collaboration with the service manager for Enterprise Knowledge Assets, the Director for Knowledge-Driven Enterprise, and senior stakeholders across the corporation.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the strategic direction for all aspects of the MITRE Product Library and components. Build and communicate a shared vision that aligns with division, center, and enterprise priorities

  • Oversee daily MPL operations

  • Train and manage MPL data stewards, and develop/deliver a training and communications program for MPL users

  • Serve as the ECIS product manager for MPL repositories and discovery tools; collaborate and coordinate with product managers in other services such as search and data visualization

  • In collaboration with others in the service, provide a holistic approach to the management and interoperability of data and metadata in all MPL repositories; provide consistent and reliable interfaces to the MPL for the Knowledge and Process Intelligence Portfolio and other consumers

  • Provide end-user services for MPL users; solicit and implement input concerning user experience, ease of use and accessibility

  • Research, propose, communicate, execute, and deliver innovative approaches to digital repositories; collaborate with the chief data architect and others to elevate MPL to first-class status in MITRE’s unified information architecture

  • Foster collaborative partnerships with staff across MITRE, providing leadership and effective management of repository content

  • Collaborate with the Service Manager, Privacy, Information Security and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with information policy

  • Oversee and participate in multidisciplinary development projects involving multiple stakeholder groups, multiple products, and complex product integrations

  • Develop reuse and impact metrics to help incentivize deliverable uploads to the MPL

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in Library Science, Information Science, or closely related technology field

  • Experience with all aspects of digital repository management using a major content management system (SharePoint or equivalent)

  • Extensive experience with product or publishing repositories, impact metrics, content management systems, discovery and search capabilities, and knowledge of online publishing standards

  • Extensive experience in unstructured information management including information governance, privacy, and information security

  • Ability to manage projects, develop policies, and drive information management initiatives across functional and organizational lines

  • Consistent display of excellent verbal and written communication skills, including strong presentation skills

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and negotiate issues with people from different organizations within the company.

  • Demonstrated initiative in fostering new ideas and implementing change

  • Experience with ITIL, IT service management and change management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5-10 years experience managing all technology aspects of a large repository of unstructured information

  • Demonstrable experience delivering IT and/or information services in a service-centric model

  • Knowledge of software product architectures, middleware, and storage technologies. (MySQL, Oracle, Amazon cloud)

  • Ability to apply AI and machine learning technologies to improve capture and description (metadata) in large scale repositories

  • Experience architecting, integrating, and overseeing large repositories based in SharePoint, M365, or Preservica and designing integrations using Mulesoft and/or Denodo.

  • Experience evaluating and implementing digital preservation tools and practices across all digital formats

  • Experience measuring repository usage and user experience using data analytics (Tableau) and/or tools such as Aternity

  • Experience with one or more commercial search engines (SOLR, Elastic)
