MITRE is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer with experience in Missile Warning systems, to assess surveillance & warning system requirements, architectures, acquisition programs, and science and technology efforts with respect to modernization and Next-Generation goals and objectives. You will work with multiple organizations to advance the effective and efficient acquisition and modernization of strategic surveillance & warning systems. This will include shaping policies, strategies, science and technology initiatives, research and development efforts, as well as acquisition programs on their requirements; architectures; acquisition, systems engineering, program protection, lifecycle management, and test and evaluation strategies.
Assess strategic surveillance & warning system requirements, architectures, acquisition programs, and science & technology efforts with respect to acquisition and enterprise modernization goals and objectives
Plan and facilitate the conduct of Independent Program Assessments concerning strategic surveillance & missile warning system acquisition programs
Coordinate the conduct of Modeling, Simulation, and Analysis to address critical technical issues with respect to Acquisition and Sustainment goals and objectives for specific space and missiles defense systems
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field
10+ years of relevant experience
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to possess/maintain a TS/SCI clearance
Experience with the U.S. Missile Defense requirements, architecture, acquisition programs, and Science and Technology efforts, with emphasis in one or more of the following elements:
Ground-Based Warning Systems
Space-Based Warning Systems
Hypersonic Glide Vehicle (HGV) Threats
Battle Management, Command, Control, and Communications infrastructure
Self-motivation, with track record of successfully completing assignments and focusing on tangible technical deliverables
Strong verbal, written, presentation, and communications skills, including customer engagement and presentation skills
A desire to continually learn and master new concepts and technologies
Advanced degree in a technical field of study
Current/active Secret or higher clearance
Current experience with either
U.S. Missile Defense architecture, acquisition programs, and Science and Technology efforts, to include the Missile Warning, Missile Tracking, and Battle Management, Command, Control, and Communications elements
Nuclear command and control (NC2) communication systems, architecture, and operations
Technical task leadership experience
Prior experience working with DoD and/or civilian government organizations, particularly
Familiarity with the Defense Acquisition System, as well as its relationship to the Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System and Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution
