MITRE is a not-for-profit company dedicated to solving problems for a safer world. Amongst its diverse set of work programs is a growing focus on BlueTech. MITRE has recently committed to the construction of a new BlueTech Lab facility (https://www.mitre.org/news/press-releases/new-mitre-bluetech-lab-will-accelerate-maritime-technology-development) , and the team supporting the lab and related work programs is expanding. The Underwater & Acoustics Systems department is looking for talented engineers and scientists who are interested in joining our team and applying their technical expertise towards furthering the public good by developing new underwater technologies such as:

  • Acoustic modeling for predicting and assessing performance

  • State-of-the-art signal processing algorithms for underwater sensing and communication systems

  • Next generation transducer and acoustic sensor designs

  • Novel climate modeling techniques and sensing devices

  • Rapidly prototyped sensors and communication platforms

  • Uncrewed and remotely operated underwater vehicles

    Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, acoustical engineering, ocean engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline, with an interest in prototyping, sensing, signal processing and/or acoustics

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and writing skills

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance which will require US citizenship

    Preferred Qualifications :

  • BS, MS, or PhD degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, acoustical engineering, ocean engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related discipline and 2+ years of related experience

  • The ability to build collaborative and mutually beneficial working relationships with people of different backgrounds

  • Experience with the following technologies and focus areas:

  • Acoustic communications, sensing, and waveform development

  • Designing, simulating, and building printed circuit boards (PCBs)

  • Development of highly integrated custom electronic systems and rapid prototypes

  • MATLAB, Python, C++, or other programming or modeling/data analysis software tools

  • Operation of electronic laboratory test and measurement equipment and software

  • Underwater acoustic wave propagation, digital signal processing (DSP), position, navigation, and timing (PNT), and related technologies

  • Uncrewed Marine Vehicles such as Autonomous Surface Vehicles (ASV), Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUV), Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROV), Unmanned Surface Vehicles (USV), and Unmanned Underwater Vehicles (UUV)

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret security clearance
