Job Description:

The Cross-cutting Urgent Innovation Cell (CUIC) is looking to add an Associate Modeling and Simulation Engineer to our team. In this role you will work with multiple DoD and IC sponsors to shape and cohere effects chain analysis efforts. Successful candidate(s) can demonstrate an understanding of end-to-end mission effects chains including the underlying, sensing, C2, fires and how they would be employed in the mission-effects chain, red components and will learn new techniques and approaches on-the-job, working in collaboration with other team members. In addition, candidates will:

  • Foster a culture of technical creativity and mission impact, including but not limited to collaborating across MITRE to provide cross-cutting and impactful solutions.

  • Utilize systems and mission engineering expertise and sponsor awareness to assist identifying areas where MITRE can have impact.

  • Assess architectural alternatives using qualitative and quantitative techniques using digital engineering and physics-based analysis.

  • Effectively communicate analysis results and impact for government sponsors.

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to improve the inclusion and diversity of the Department's work and staff.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active Top Secret clearance

  • Ability to be cleared at the TS/SCI level

  • Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Experience with developing physics-based modeling and simulation tools and applying those tools to address research questions.

  • Experience with understanding simulation results, identifying areas for additional focus, and extracting critical lessons learned.

  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and capable of working with scientists, analysts, and technical software developers across several technical disciplines.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in a programming language such as C/C++, Java, Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, or Fortran

  • Desire to learn new techniques and approaches on-the-job by leveraging structured educational content, as well as expertise from team members

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • This position requires a minimum of 4 days a week on-site.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance

  • Master’s degree or PhD in related field

  • Experience working with Government modeling and simulation tools to include AFSIM

  • Experience in shaping and executing complex DoD and classified sponsor mission outcomes.

  • Effective in interacting with technical staff, analysts, and operators ranging from junior-level contributors to senior leaders in DoD

  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams of systems engineers and analysts to assess concepts for national security challenges in operational contexts employing mission engineering methods

  • Experience creating agent-based models of complex systems

  • Experience applying digital engineering approaches to complex, systems of systems

  • Experience conducting quantitative data analysis using a variety of datasets

  • Demonstrated proficiency in a programming language such as C/C++, Java, Python, MATLAB, Mathematica, or Fortran or demonstrated proficiency with Digital Engineering and SysML
