As a Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC), MITRE staff are tasked with applying their skills to impact programmatic and technical decisions of highest importance to the country. The MITRE Corporation’s Resilient Communication Systems Department supports communication capabilities of both manned and unmanned aerial platforms used by the United States military and International partners. The Resilient Communication Systems Department’s focus is on creating and fielding adaptive communications and networking infrastructure needed for successful execution of different mission areas for Operations in Contested Environments. This involves modernizing fielded communications capabilities in the near/mid-terms and developing/fielding the next generation communications architecture in all phases of systems evolution from concept exploration, through experimentation and development. The department’s primary areas of concentration are in RF communications, networking, modeling and simulation, system integrations, systems engineering, and software programming.

  • Key Responsibilities:

  • You will leverage an understanding of wireless communications, RF/analog hardware, antenna systems, RF propagation, electromagnetics, networking technologies, or other similar technical disciplines

  • You will use laboratory instrumentation (e.g. spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal & waveform generators) to characterize the performance of commercial and military communications systems

  • You will analyze RF system performance (range, data throughout, coverage, co-location performance) using various tools and techniques

  • You will support a variety of projects depending on your skills, development goals, and sponsor needs to provide the United States Military and international partners the tools and capabilities necessary for mission success

  • Required Qualifications:

  • You are eager to learn new skills and technologies

  • You have an interest in wireless communications, RF/analog hardware, antenna design, digital signal processing (DSP), networking or other related technical disciplines

  • You have experience using laboratory instrumentation (e.g. spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal & waveform generators) in an academic or commercial environment

  • You are familiar with software language(s) such as MATLAB, Python, C/C++

  • You have an ability to effectively write and present technical material

  • You have an ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

  • Currently pursuing (or recently received) a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or similar field, with an interest in communications or other relevant technical disciplines
