Job Title: Quality Engineer

Job Location: Ayer, Ma

Job Description: We are searching for a Quality Engineer who performs a variety of quality-related functions in support of regulatory, customer, and company requirements/objectives. Coordinates/develops/monitors/maintains necessary procedures, controls, and/or programs to assure compliance/conformance to regulatory, customer, and company requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Address nonconformance reports, including Dispositions, Root Cause, Corrective Action and effectiveness.

  • Facilitate continuous improvement teams. Perform 8D investigations utilizing tools such as 5-Why, Fish Bone, Pareto, affinity diagram, 5S, Kaizen and Fault Tree analysis

  • Analyze defects with QC Inspectors and Mfg. Engineering.

  • Verify Customer requirements are followed and appropriately translated to Suppliers

  • Perform audits and report Program performance via score cards.

  • Works to achieve operational targets for specific programs and projects with moderate impact on departmental results.

  • Provide guidance, coaching and training to other employees within job area.

  • Communicates with contacts within and outside of own department and may occasionally have responsibility for communicating with parties external to the organization (e.g., customers, vendors, etc.).

  • Analyze product and process failures to ensure effective root cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions for internal and external customers

  • Review trend analyses related to field returns, manufacturing rejects, supplier history, etc and provide recommendations for improvement

  • Participate or lead root cause corrective action investigations and implementation to address internal, external, customer and/or supplier issues to improve overall product and process quality

    Qualifications: (refer to Career Framework)

  • A minimum of 2 years of prior related experience as a Quality Engineer or Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 1 year of prior related experience

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office software (Excel/Outlook/Word/PowerPoint, etc.)

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (or Mechanical Engineering)

  • Experience auditing to ISO 9001 and maintain a Quality Management System.

  • Experience evaluating complex electronic hardware, under magnification, to IPC-J-STD-001

  • Certified, or the ability to obtain certification to the above referenced workmanship standards.

  • Experience with engineering drawing review and interpretation.

  • Familiarity with Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) throughout the Product Maturity Cycle

  • Working knowledge of quality concepts and tools (i.e., six-sigma, TQM, QFD, SPC, SQC, DOE, ANOVA, etc.);

  • Working knowledge of AS9100/AS9110 requirements

  • Working knowledge of Certification Authority Regulatory requirements (FAA, EASA, etc)

  • Ability to attain and retain Six Sigma Green or Black Belt

  • ASQ and/or RABQSA Certified Quality Auditor and/or Lead Auditor

  • Perform design review activities including inspectability, consistency, adequacy, accuracy, and conformance to customer requirements and provide recommendations for improvement

  • Participate with Engineering and Operations to ensure transfer to Production of new products are in accordance with approved data
