Specialist, Production Planning
This position is responsible for the proper use and functioning of the ERP manufacturing planning system to support prodcution and programs. This includes MRP, production work order release, material allocations, BOM’s, routings, capacity and load planning, and project and schedule execution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Analyze and manage MRP (Material Requirements Planning) daily, validate the output for accuracy and initiates corrective action for discrepant issues.
Uses ERP to accurately and efficiently plan production, including managing the work order process to include revision control, material availability, work order release, start and completion date maintenance, material allocation changes, work center labor requirements, and released BOM’s and routers.
Calculate manufacturing and material lead times and labor hours
Prepare reports and note shortages as required
Manage and execute project production schedules to meet the Master Schedule and contract delivery dates
Evaluate schedule and coordinate the availability and controlled flow of materials and services to meet customer requirements
Notify the leadership team when available resources do not support the production plan or meeting the ship/ contract date is at risk.
Colloborate with operations leadership and planning organization to provide detailed status of work in progress, material availability, and communicates constraints to schedule
Coordinate interdepartmental activity with stockroom, inspection, quality, operations, purchasing, engineering, and program management.
Work cross functionally to expedite any material shortages with procurement, receiving, quality, and other production areas
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BA/BS or equivalent experience planning in a visual electromechanical build-to-order manufacturing environment.
2+ Years experience in an MRP Manufacturing environment with activities related to planning and/or scheduling
Experience and understanding of requirements in the requisitioning, purchasing, stocking, control and issuance of inventory.
Preferred Additional Skills/ Knowledge:
Understanding of Government contracting requirements, such as FAR, ITAR, etc.
APICS certification or other relevant education is highly desirable
Experience with ERP systems
Ability to handle multiple decisions based on workload dispersion, program priorities and management and customer decisions
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Highly skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc)
Strong interpersonal skills including excellent written and oral communication skills
Strong math and analytical skills to solve problems
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
