The Global SQA Director …will work in partnership with the sourcing team to set the strategic vision for Supplier Quality Management aligned with Sensata Global Quality strategy, to optimize the supply base and own all supplier quality assurance activities. To identify and develop new and existing supply base to meet Sensata and ultimately customer requirements.

General Responsibilities

  • Directs all assigned quality assurance team members while reporting team successes and opportunities to the Director of Quality Assurance and Development

  • Oversees the sharing and implementation of best practices across all business units

  • Directs the activities of the Quality Management System

  • Oversees time management and operational support

  • Directs and produces Quality Assurance measures and metrics which report any trends or process improvement opportunities for each project

  • Directs the training and other required activities for the department

  • Oversees internal control failure remediation efforts

Experience / Qualifications

  • A university degree and 10-12 years of experience

  • Ability to lead, coach, and develop team members

  • Holds self and others accountable to achieving goals and standards

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to handle multiple competing tasks and demands

  • Strong communication skills; oral, written and presentation

  • Strong organization, planning and time management skills to achieve results

  • Strong personal and professional ethical values and integrity

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

JOB RESPONSIBILITY

To work in partnership with the sourcing team to set the strategic vision for Supplier Quality Management aligned with Sensata Global Quality strategy, to optimize the supply base and own all supplier quality assurance activities. To identify and develop new and existing supply base to meet Sensata and ultimately customer requirements

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Lead supplier quality assurance (SQA) and supplier development (SD) function globally Accountable for delivering the SQA/SD strategic vision for the global supply base (current and future)

  • Set Sensata Supplier quality and supplier development policies globally Set the standards & implement for Sensata’s supplier quality and service standards

  • Manage supplier risk assessment process Accountable for ensuring supplier quality issues, by leading complex negotiations to resolve issues and escalate (internally/externally) to the Business Unit Leaders as required to remove or minimise Sensata’s risk exposure

  • Act as the most senior quality interface at our suppliers. Hold suppliers accountable for Quality, Delivery and Cost performance via interaction and negotiation at senior levels within the supplier’s management structure

  • Optimise supply base to meet strategic global purchasing objectives ensuring suppliers’ quality performance and processes meet business growth and product localisation demand Identify gaps in supply base (new product, volume, localisation demand etc) and proactively identify new/develop existing suppliers

  • Support re-sourcing and de-sourcing activity Lead supplier development activities to support sourcing strategies or fixing quality and/or service performance gaps Deploy lean tools and business process improvements in the supply base

  • Responsible for creation and realisation of opportunities to develop collaborative supplier relationships in support of the global Sensata business

  • Set strategy and policy for supplier qualification (including APQP) and supplier audit Responsible for supplier qualification process across the division and support supply base optimisation in co-ordination with commodity teams and in alignment with strategic sourcing

  • Ensure standard metrics in place to support the reporting of Supplier Quality issues, identifying global quality issues and trends.

  • Drive improvements in levels of supplier quality and service performance against set KPIs

  • Ensure issues are reported to the Quality Leadership team and that solutions are recommended/implemented to help support the improvement of quality issues

  • Ensure appropriate management of supplier issues, escalation process for critical issues Implement effective tools for complete reporting of the total cost of poor quality caused by suppliers

  • Responsible for submission of annual Supplier Quality objectives working with Regional Quality Managers and Global/Regional Purchasing Commodity Managers

  • Work with Suppliers to establish and review Sensata Supplier quality requirements, standards, production capability, new programme launch and complaint resolution

  • Review the transparency, accuracy and consistency of Quality data in the purchasing information systems globally Deliver Regional monthly Quality reports according to Quality Leadership Team process and tools

  • Ensure that all internal procedures and statutory requirements for compliant environmental procurement and storage of materials are adhered to globally

  • Regularly review and continuously improve the requirements of the business on Supplier Quality and ensure we have the appropriate organisation structure, skills and resource in place to deliver the demands of the business

QUALIFICATION

  • Minimum Requirement: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in a fast moving highly engineered products manufacturing environment including design and development activities and outsourced manufacturing

  • Minimum 5 years Quality Leadership Experience and leading a global team in different time zones

  • Certified Auditor (ISO 9001/ IATF 16949 and/or VDA 6.3)

COMPETENCIES

  • Fluent in English

  • Strong organizational and communication skills (both written and verbal) in conveying the needs of all interested parties, including supplier interface.

  • Previous experience in Supplier Quality Management in Automotive minimum 5 years is mandatory.

  • Experience in Advanced Quality Planning and Supplier Performance Development.

  • Specific Functional Capabilities, Knowledge & Skills

  • IATF 1649 & Automotive OEM requirements

  • Knowledge of Supplier Quality Management

  • Extensive knowledge of the Core Quality Tools, including 8D

  • Preferable: Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean Manufacturing

  • Role requires high level of travel both foreign and domestic, approximately 40%
