MKS Instruments Inc VP, Office of the CIO (OCIO) - HYBRID in Andover, Massachusetts

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

The VP is responsible for managing the office of the CIO (OCIO) and reports to the CIO. The VP provides hands-on leadership for the cross-functional management of information and technology across the enterprise. He/She/They oversees functions such as IT strategy, governance, performance management and the definition of IT ways of working. The head of the OCIO focuses on ensuring that the IT organization "does the right things" through strategy and governance, as well as "doing things right" through organizational and operational model development and performance management. The head of the OCIO will be interacting and collaborating with the other senior leaders of the organization.

In this role, the VP will be responsible for building the team that will drive these critical activities. We seek a hands-on, analytical leader, who can jump in to drive the execution of strategic programs and IT business operations, while partnering with the CIO to deliver future-state strategic vision.

This is a hybrid role based out of our office in Andover, MA. You Will Make an Impact By:

  • Partner with the CIO in providing strategic technology vision and direction for the enterprise.

  • Drive focus and prioritization within the IT organization through establishing strategic planning and governance principles and processes

  • Drives and facilitates effective collaboration and communications between the IT organization and Finance, HR, and Compliance

  • Act as the central point of contact in IT to manage the IT budget. This includes close partnership with corporate finance to ensure two-communications, strategic planning, and accurate yearly and monthly management of the IT budget. Regularly review IT costs and cost structures for IT services and products so that the financial implications of IT projects and activities are communicated to the proper IT and business executives.

  • Partner with Procurement to manage the contract lifecycle. This includes partnering with cross-functional leaders to refine the contract lifecycle, ensuring compliance to company policy. Build a strategic plan to govern and manage IT vendor partners, to ensure we are maximizing financial value and quality delivery through our partnerships.

  • Act as a central point of contact in IT for HR related activities. This includes overseeing the execution of a strategic labor programs to hire the right people into the right roles and locations, ensuring alignment and partnership for activities such as goal setting, performance, and talent management.

  • Establishing and implements continuous improvement / transformation programs for the IT organization. Oversee Program Management to lead critical programs, such as M&A integrations and other large-scale programs with a significant impact on IT and MKS growth. Overseeing the Program Management Office governance for the domain, includes: Methodologies, both Agile and Waterfall, as provided by Corporate PMO, Domain Project/Portfolio governance, including intake, prioritization, execution, Resource Management, and Tooling to deliver consistency, automated reporting, and quality delivery across IT teams

  • Oversee and manage Communications activities, through written and visual communications. This includes, but is not limited to, executive presentations, IT newsletters, and SharePoint site creation. Partner closely with the corporate the Communications team to ensure alignment.

  • Oversee Change Management and develop a process for Direct and Indirect Change Management. This includes written communications, training programs, and leading Change Champions across the organization.

  • Lead efforts related to Employee Engagement. This includes leading our internal “IT Connected” team, building an engagement program to ensure our global team is connected and feels that they are part of ONE IT organization.

  • Managing the team of people that makes up the office of the CIO. Define the OCIO staffing needs and hire team members to deliver on goals. This includes building out a global staffing strategy to lead, govern and stay connected to our global team.

Skills You Bring:

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in business administration or related field

  • 8 + years in IT and business/industry

  • A minimum of three years of leadership responsibilities

  • Experience in business/industry (beyond IT), managing cross-functional teams or projects, and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders

  • Strong leadership capability, executing as appropriate in the areas of responsibility

  • Expertise in budget planning, financial management and workforce management

  • Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions, and strategic application to business needs, including the ability to differentiate between a relevant trend and hype

  • Ability to improve operational efficiency, service delivery and information management across the IT organization

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish reporting and demonstrate influencing skills

    Compensation and Benefits: Salary Pay Range: $224,000 to $416,000 per year. This range is a good faith esti mate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.    At MKS, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for the role.

    Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
