Robert Half Design Engineer in Andover, Massachusetts
Description
We are searching for a talented Design Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative power supply products. You will play a key role in all stages of the design process, from conceptualization and prototyping to testing and documentation.
Responsibilities
Collaborate on the design and development of power supply products.
Build and test new electrical circuits using breadboards.
Conduct electrical evaluations of products.
Collect, analyze, and document data from experiments, testing, and evaluations.
Perform failure analysis using various techniques.
Process prototype kits for verification and design approval.
Apply engineering analysis skills and knowledge of high-frequency switch-mode power supplies and topologies.
Evaluate electrical components and circuitry for complex power systems.
Support existing product lines and provide technical expertise.
Collaborate with sales and applications teams to ensure customer satisfaction with existing product designs.
Manage all aspects of the electrical design process, including component selection, simulation, testing, PCB layout, and assembly.
Develop product roadmaps, write test plans, and create product specifications.
Work effectively with internal teams to facilitate the smooth introduction and manufacturing of reliable products.
Generate comprehensive product documentation, including bills of materials, test specifications, and assembly drawings.
Requirements
Education and Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) preferred, Master's degree (MSEE) a plus.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in switch-mode power supply design.
In-depth knowledge of high-frequency switching power supply topologies and control architectures.
Proven skills in power conversion design, including magnetics, circuit design analysis, simulation, layout considerations, control theory, and EMC compliance.
Strong analytical abilities with a keen eye for detail.
Self-motivated with a collaborative work style.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Familiarity with various simulation tools (e.g., SIMetrix/SIMPLIS, Pspice, OrCAD, Mathcad, MATLAB, Excel).
Experience and knowledge of firmware development is a plus.
