Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Temporary Professional, Web and Digital Communications takes primary responsibility for ensuring that the UMass Amherst Fine Arts Center’s website serves the organization’s marketing, communications, and ticket selling needs. The position also assists as needed in facilitating and optimizing email communications, collecting and analyzing digital communications performance data, and supporting digital marketing campaigns. The Temporary Professional, Web and Digital Communications collaborates with colleagues from across the Fine Arts Center’s performing and visual arts departments to ensure all web and digital communications needs are addressed in a timely manner with an understanding that teamwork breeds team success.

Essential Functions

  • Manages all UI and UX aspects of the Fine Arts Center's website.

  • Works with the box office manager and Fine Arts Center colleagues, contractors/consultants, vendor reps, and/or UMass IT colleagues to ensure proper functioning of outward-facing components of customer journeys through the end of the ticketing process.

  • Builds event and exhibition pages; builds and maintains annual performing arts preview page; builds and maintains media resources page(s).

  • Collaborates with colleagues in marketing and communications and across the Fine Arts Center to plan and execute activation of multimedia content as a function of a content/storytelling-focused marketing and communications strategy.

  • Collaborates with programming and curatorial colleagues across the Fine Arts Center to build and populate pages for online and hybrid events and exhibitions; builds and maintains exhibition microsites.

  • Collaborates with colleagues in programming and operations to facilitate event streaming as needed.

  • Ensures ADA compliance across all outward-facing components of the Fine Arts Center and website. Collaborates with box office staff and others to ensure continual ADA compliance through the end of the customer journey.

  • Manages website integration with calendaring and social media platforms.

  • Manages tagging, analytics reporting, data extractions, and ad management software integrations with website and social channels.

  • Works with marketing and communications colleagues on execution of web-side aspects of populating digital display/video screens in Fine Arts Center spaces.

  • Serves as liaison between Fine Arts Center marketing and communications and university central IT and the university’s central web team on all matters related to online communications.

  • Performs ongoing monitoring of website and digital communications and marketing best practices and emergent technologies. Works with the director and marketing colleagues to test new strategies and implement changes.

    Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Five (5) years’ professional experience in front-end website development and/or website design.

  • Professional experience managing websites in Drupal and other web content management systems.

  • Professional experience with bulk email platforms.

  • Professional experience with Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.

  • Experience in building and optimizing landing pages for digital marketing campaigns.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Flexibility with time essential; ability to work nights and weekends as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Experience with the AudienceView content management system and correspondence platform.

  • Professional experience with online ticket-selling solutions.

  • Professional experience supporting the performing arts (on the presenter or venue side) the visual arts (for museum and galleries) and/or higher education.

  • Passion for the performing and visual arts.

    Physical Demands/Working Conditions

Typical office environment.

Work Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

  • Occasional evenings and/or weekends.

  • Expected to work evening performances related to Fine Arts Center events.

  • This is a temporary, non-benefited position.

  • This position has the opportunity for a hybrid work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where an employee’s work is regularly performed at a location other than the campus workspace for a portion of the week. As this position is non-unit, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees Non-Unit (Professional/or Classified) Employee Personnel Policy.

  • This position has the opportunity for a remote work schedule, which is defined by the University as an arrangement where the employee’s work location is to work from a site other than the UMass Amherst campus. As this position is non-unit, it is subject to the terms and conditions of the University of Massachusetts Board of Trustees Non-Unit (Professional/or Classified) Employee Personnel Policy.

    Salary Information

$30 per hour.
