Position Our Saw and Planer Operators produce world class products for OMG using safe machine operating techniques and effective lean manufacturing principles. This key position configures and operates saws and planer machines to produce parts according to specifications and Kanban card requirements. Reporting to the Shift Supervisor, the Saw and Planer Operator must be a team player and committed to delivering only the best quality to our customers! Responsibilities Promotes Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees. Sets up the Saws and Planers, observes operation, and inspects work product to ensure machining conforms to specifications. Reads job order for product and job specifications such as calibrations, dimensions, tolerances, parts to be run, or special manufacturing instructions. Selects and adjusts the controls for the Saw Cutting and Planer Equipment as well as the cutting tools, to meet the specifications as they specify on the production run sheet, including speeds and feed rates. Performs routine lubrication and preventative maintenance inspections as required. Observes all safety rules. Performs routine and preventative machine maintenance. Assists other Saw and Planer Operators to set up the machines and prepare and ready the finished boards for the Punch Presses which stamp out the Cortex plugs Maintains a neat and well-organized work area. Other duties as assigned. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent. Experience with the safety requirements & safe work practices of woodworking equipment Ability to perform tool changes for saws and planers. Capable of using standard tools and measurement devices such as micrometers and rulers. Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, quality specifications, and other related documents. Good written and verbal communication skills. Strong math and mechanical reasoning skills. Ability to contribute as part of a team. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Good close vision and depth perception skills. Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills. Strong sense of responsibility and ownership!
