Position Overview OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster?. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing, implementing and optimizing cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. The successful candidate will maximize productivity and safety with effective process improvements, capital recommendations, and work force utilization. Position Responsibilities Promote Safety as the Number One priority of all OMG employees. Support and engage factory in Lean, focusing on process improvement and 5S. Support product development by designing, prototyping, and testing new/revised products and modifying manufacturing equipment accordingly. Prepare and maintain detailed layouts of buildings and equipment, as necessary. Coordinate the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including blueprints, quality standards, tool design, process specifications, and communication of goals to the factory. Design, develop and test and/or source and cost-justify tools, machinery and equipment. Coordinate new equipment and equipment modification projects from concept, through installation, to completion. Perform product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality, safety, and efficiency improvements, along with design and implementation of necessary improvements to process and equipment. Create, evaluate and/or approve drawings, routings, specs, SOPs, training materials and other documents related to the production of existing and new products. Collect data and report on various factory metrics for management. Performs other related duties as assigned. Position Requirements Bachelor\'s degree in engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related products. Or entry-level experience candidates as applicable. Strong mechanical aptitude with a talent for dissecting and understanding mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems; a natural desire to learn. Solid understanding of Lean principles (Green or Black Belt preferred). Demonstrated success achieving cost reduction objectives through process and quality improvement initiatives. Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational and communication skills. Ability to overcome obstacles and complete assignments in a timely manner. Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on capacity. Excellent PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite. CADD experience preferred, AutoCad and/or SolidWorks a plus. Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Good close vision and depth perception skills. Positive attitude, good judgment and strong sense of responsibility, ownership and loyalty.
