Fresenius Medical Center Sr. Acquisitions Director in Waltham, Massachusetts

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Sr. Acquisitions Director identifies and determines feasibility of acquisitions and implements pertinent strategies to ensure attainment of projected growth goals while maintaining compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Directs and drives the implementation and execution of initiatives and strategies related to the acquisition process. Act as the primary liaison for FMCNA with the acquisition partner.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilizes company and acquisition knowledge and expertise, to identify, evaluate and define acquisition growth opportunities.

  • Plans and implements negotiation strategies to accomplish established goals while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures, guidelines and regulations.

  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.

  • Negotiates Letter of Intent (LOI) and Definitive Agreements within suitable time frames according to department and company policies and procedures. Compliant with all pertinent regulatory requirements collaborating with outside legal counsel as appropriate.

  • Responsible for acquisition projects from execution of the confidentiality agreement through to closing, providing direction and expertise as needed. Ensures timelines\deadlines are being met and that there is consistency and compliance. Implements and communicates changes and adjustments as necessary.

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to initiate negotiations completing any required documentation and approvals as needed by counsel.

  • Collaborates with the local Operations management team and appropriate Division Business Development personnel to ensure successful execution of the project activities according to the established timeline.

  • Reviews and analyzes financial statements to ascertain financial implications of negotiated agreements.

  • Initiates the preparation of feasibility reports, competitive demographic and risk analyses, Profit and Loss forecasts, pro formas, etc. and makes recommendations for a business case for development opportunities.

  • Assists in demographic analysis and pro forma review.

  • Participates in the Acquisitions Investment Committees process by acting as a resource and subject matter expert regarding data collections, presentations and proposal generation.

  • Identifies new business opportunities that contribute to the overall FMCNA strategic plan via Acquisitions.

  • Establishes mission oriented, decision-making processes. Assists in the development of the nationally focused business model for the department providing insight and recommendations for the improvement as needed.

  • Has broad expertise and unique knowledge of a given geographical area as it relates to FMCNA; uses skills to contribute to the development of company objectives and principles, and achieve goals in effective ways.

  • Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

  • Identifies new business opportunities that contribute to the overall FMCNA strategic plan via business unit.

  • Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups. Works closely with Operations management to implement an integration and transition process for acquisitions making the appropriate accommodations. Ensures appropriate details are updated/entered in the applicable CD databases.

  • Mentors other staff as applicable. Provides guidance and advice regarding goals and objectives pertaining to initiatives focusing on top-line growth and strategies.

  • Reviews and complies with the Code of Business Conduct and all applicable company policies and procedures, local, state and federal laws and regulations.

  • Assists with various projects as assigned by a direct supervisor.

  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree required; MBA or Advanced Degree preferred

EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Minimum of 12 years’ related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or a Master’s degree with 8 years’ experience; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent directly related work experience.

  • Experience in Healthcare sales or operations management with experience in negotiating contracts, mergers and acquisitions and other transactional work required.

  • Strong analytical and negotiating skills with the ability to attend to details often under significant pressure during intense negotiations.

  • Demonstrated success in closing business deals required.

  • Demonstrated ability to write proposals and negotiate contracts, created local marketing plans and manage geographically unique business interests.

  • Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently and manage various, potentially unrelated projects simultaneously and autonomously.

  • Knowledgeable regarding financial analysis, modeling and valuation related to business transactions.

  • Self-motivated and ability to drive projects to closure in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Ability to work with and include all levels of the organization in the decision making process and to work independently.

  • Demonstrated ability to work strongly with physicians and/or healthcare system executives.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
