State of Massachusetts Trades Worker in Taunton State Hospital, Massachusetts
Performs varied tasks to assist tradesworkers in the performance of their duties in a variety of trades (Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, Masonry, Painting, Ironwork, Fabrication): Performs routine trade related maintenance and repair; maintains machinery, equipment and tools; installs glass' installs and replaced floor covering; performs related work as required. Performs preventive maintenance. Makes repairs to equipment according to instructions and equipment service manuals and directions from the maintenance working foreman. Maintains machinery, equipment and tools by cleaning, lubricating, greasing, oiling, etc. to ensure their optimum working order. Assists in erection and/or dismantling scaffolding and/or rigging used to gain access to high places. Performs related duties such as furnishing tools and materials to tradesmen during the course of a job; holding materials or tools in place while journeymen work on them; cleaning work areas upon completion; operating or using soldering and/or brazing equipment; erecting and dismantling wall partitions; requesting supplies and maintaining records. Prepares surfaces for adhesion of new substances as needed. Operates motor vehicles to transport equipment and personnel safely to work areas. Changes HVAC system air filters under supervision of engineer as required. Mixes materials as necessary, such as adhesives, paint, etc. Stores equipment, cleans up work, keeps and leaves job site in a safe condition for patients and staff. Assists all trades as needed. Erects barricades during emergencies and traffic control projects. Removes, repairs, replaces fans, screens and windows to provide proper environment for seasonal climate conditions. Applies coverings to surfaces as needed. Installs, repairs, replaces and adjusts building hardware.
Schedule: 2nd shift 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm
Days Off: Saturday/Sunday
*Position will support all sites in the Southeast Area.
Taunton State Hospital (TSH) is a 45-bed inpatient facility that provides continuing care inpatient to adults with major mental illnesses. The hospital is a leader in the successful integration of the Principles of Recovery and a rehabilitation philosophy into the treatment model. The hospital is a part of the Southeast Area of the Department of Mental Health which works closely with the inpatient treatment teams to facilitate patients’ discharge back to the community.
