Panasonic Device Solutions Laboratory MA (PDSLM) of Panasonic R&D Company of America, a division of Panasonic Corporation of North America, conducts advanced research and development in the area of MEMs-based inertial sensing. PDSLMs primary role is to work on challenging R&D projects that require innovative ideas and approaches in problem solving. PDSLM is located in Marlborough, MA, close to Boston and major universities.

Currently, PBL has an immediate opening for a Sr. MEMS Design Engineer.

What You’ll Get to Do:

Key Accountabilities:

  • 50% MEMS sensor design and simulation

  • 40% MEMS sensor characterization

  • 5% Sensor layout design and verification

  • 5% MEMS system-level development

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed design of MEMS sensors to guarantee robust performance in high volumes

  • Develop multi-physics finite element simulations of MEMS devices to guarantee all sensor metrics are met

  • Asses interaction of MEMS sensor and interface electronics & package through experimentation and modeling

  • Interact with process engineers to incorporate six-sigma design techniques and variation analysis

  • Create new test methodologies for efficient characterization of MEMS devices

What You’ll Bring:

  • Masters or PhD degree in electrical or mechanical engineering

  • Minimum of 5 years of MEMS design experience including product development

  • Excellent understanding of operation principles of MEMS structures

  • Excellent knowledge of MEMS fabrication processes

  • Good understanding of interface electronics and circuit design

  • Demonstrated ability to create intellectual property (MEMS/circuit portfolio, publications, and/or patents)

  • Demonstrated expertise in finite element analysis (FEA) tools such as ANSYS, COMSOL or CoventorWare

  • Demonstrated experience developing and debugging test setups. LabView and MATLAB programing skills are a plus

  • Demonstrated expertise in mask design and tapeout procedures

  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Exceptionally organized and driven by results

  • Candidate should be self-motivated and a great team player
