MIT Lincoln Laboratory Fall CO-OP - IT Support in Lexington, Massachusetts

The RF Technology Group develops and demonstrates innovative RF technologies and integrated subsystems as solutions to emerging national security needs in Radar, Electronic Warfare, SIGINT, and Special Communications. To execute its RF research and development mission, the Group develops and tests custom antennas, T/R modules, multi-channel wideband receiver-exciters, beamformers, active and passive RF circuits, wide bandgap/GaN materials and devices, low phase noise oscillators, high speed software-defined radios, and high throughput digital processing architectures. Novel RF solutions are developed at the device level up through the full RF subsystem level, with an emphasis on highly integrated, small form factor RF subsystems The Group collaboratively interacts with research groups across the Laboratory to take projects from initial concept stage, though simulation and analysis, to design and prototyping, and finally to field demonstration.

Position Description: Complete IT hardware/software support for 70+ users. Complete operating system installations, troubleshooting, for Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 2008/2012 Server, Mac OS, Linux RedHat, Suse, Ubuntu, and Gentoo. Configure and maintain network infrastructure within the LAN between Windows and UNIX/Linux as well as connections to the LAN from remote locations. Assist staff members in troubleshooting hardware, software and network problems. Maintain web site for Group 86 coops using wiki for documentation and procedures. Assist in developing our growing network infrastructure. Work on existing projects and help develop new projects aimed at improving the group’s computer requirements. Work with centralized IT support to provide solution to group members while communicating with IT lead.

Education: High School Graduate, currently enrolled in accredited Computer Science/Computer Engineering /related program with a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Experience: At least one year of direct related experience on PCs, workstations, and telecommunications equipment. Must be knowledgeable with various operating systems.

Skills: • Ability to demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to work independently or on a team • Windows 10, Windows 7, Windows 2008/2012 Server, Mac OS, LINUX (SuSe, RedHat, Ubuntu, etc.). • Familiarity with Microsoft application software, as well as other application software and should have a basic understanding of networking
