Sanofi Group Scientific Communication Specialist in Framingham, Massachusetts

Job Summary:

Biomedical Media Services is seeking a visual communicator with a creative eye and enthusiasm to join our team. This position requires strong visual and verbal communication skills, with the Scientific Communication Specialist working very closely with executive leadership in Research and Development to understand their concepts and successfully translate them in a strategic and creative way. They must be organized, dependable and able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Must possess the ability to multi-task and handle multiple projects simultaneously while capable of producing a high volume of work. Comfortable working with a variety of software – transitioning seamlessly between presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint) and design tools (e.g., InDesign). Provide excellent customer service. Willingness to travel and meet with clients within the Cambridge/Framingham area, if necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager of Biomedical Media Services, the Scientific Communication Specialist will have three primary responsibilities:

Presentation Management

  • Develop solutions and strategies for improving current presentation practices.

  • Conceptualize and deliver clear and compelling scientific content that drives R&D business.

  • Create scientific communications that engage, inform and inspire.

Scientific/Conference Posters

  • Using content (text, charts, graphs, tables) from existing files, you will design scientific posters for display at national conferences and internal poster sessions using Adobe InDesign.

  • Posters must follow conference-specific formatting guidelines, incorporate use of brand colors as needed and content/data must have a consistent look throughout.

Figures for Publication

  • Convert figures from PowerPoint and Excel to press ready files (eps, PDF) suitable for publication in nationally recognized scientific journals. Involves using journal-specific formatting guidelines to reformat figures (graphs, tables, etc.) for maximum readability. Reformatting is typically done in Adobe Illustrator.

  • Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and other communication pieces that convey research information to the medical community.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external authors on developing content for publications.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Project management skills, including managing multiple projects in a timely manner. Influence, negotiation, problem solving, and analytical skills.

  • Skilled in conveying complicated messaging requirements in a simple, clear, concise way.

  • Ability to work with scientific or technical content.

  • Ability to work both independently and under close direction/supervision.

  • Adaptability and strong interpersonal skills.

  • Must possess professional demeanor to effectively engage and communicate with clients and team members.

  • Speed in execution to meet tight timelines without sacrificing quality is essential.

  • Should possess a solid grasp of design principles including: layout, typography, color, balance, composition and current design trends.

  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office applications, particularly PowerPoint.

  • Highly proficient with Abobe Creative Cloud, particularly, InDesign and Illustrator.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or a related field, with at least 5-7 years of experience in visual design is required. Experience working in a scientific, pharmaceutical, or healthcare setting desirable. Candidates should have a portfolio of relevant work samples.
