Sanofi Group Research Assistant in Framingham, Massachusetts

Job Responsibilities/Department Description:

The Biopharmaceutical Development division of Sanofi, North America is seeking a Research Assistant with a background in Analytical Chemistry for a position based at their Framingham, MA site. The qualified candidate will join the Analytical Development (AD) department, perform routine and complex testing of in-process samples and final products in accordance with SOPs for product release and validation, and develop and co-qualify new methods for different therapeutics programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Be involved in method development and qualification, GMP material release by following procedures, comparability studies, impurity analysis using HPLC, fluorescence detection, CE-SDS, SDS-PAGE, and mass spectrometry etc.

  • Authors protocols, method development reports and qualification reports, as well as scientific journal publications and presentations where applicable

  • Participates in training of less experienced staff

  • Transfers methods from Analytical Development groups to the QC laboratory

  • Communicates inter-departmentally and with outside contacts to solve technical issues

  • Exercises sound judgment and decision making when problem solving

  • Abilities to multitask, works independently or with a multidisciplinary team, and have good problem solving skills.

  • Works in compliance with cGMPs, practice safe work habits, adhere to Sanofi’s safety procedures and guidelines, and be responsible for maintaining laboratory safety

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, chemistry or related discipline with 0-1 year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience using analytical method platforms, including HPLC/UPLC, mass spectrometry, electrophoresis (CE-SDS/SDS-PAGE), ELISA, enzyme activity assays and binding assays as well as a strong understanding of protein and carbohydrate chemistry

  • Familiarity with analytical methods development and qualification following ICH guidelines for the characterization of protein/glycoprotein therapeutics.

  • Knowledge of biologics process development

  • Proficient in Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and lab based data management

  • Experience or familiarity with working in a GLP or GMP environment

  • Excellent written, verbal communication, presentation and organizational skills, with attention to details

  • Strong scientific curiosity, integrity, creativity and self-motivation.
