Philips Lighting Component Engineer in Fall River, Massachusetts
Manage the Philips Professional Luminaire North American components and materials database. Create and maintain a consolidated database of standardized components and materials used in making indoor and outdoor luminaires. Implement best practices to access all existing components development and maintenance of products including parts database to maximize reuse of parts.
Confirm up-to-date and correct content of the component database and all existing and new components are functionally fully appropriate and timely released
Be the functional link between Product Development Engineers and the specialists of Global Component Engineering; on behalf of global working team, initializes scouting of new suppliers, gathering supplier/technology information, performs supplier/technology audits, supports settlement of the suppliers ECN’s and the local action plan (as part of the Supplier Management process by the Global Component Working Teams)
Ensure all relevant technical communications with suppliers, purchasing, supply chain and counterparts within the Business Group
Review BOM of projects and guide teams to the best parts in cost, technical specification and availability, where needed in the project team
Act as account manager between customer (development) and supplying parties (purchasing / supply chain) to balance the interests in creating a mutual agreed to component
Own and coordinate the technological release of components, from acquiring a new component to documenting a qualification report of the component issued by the Global Component engineer, ensuring release status in their Component database
Timely communication of safety components usage to product development engineers; ensure components are used within Business Group guidelines
Initiate, own and archive safety components reports
In view of design for quality, responsible for up-to-date content and proper usage of the component statistics database
Remain current in technical knowhow of components and knowledge of suppliers; responsible for in-depth contacts with counterparts in other Professional Luminaire Global Business Units and the Global Component Engineering Specialist
Maintain an awareness of industry trends, customer needs, scientific research and innovation related to lighting products and core supporting technologies
Report on status and plans of relevant component indicators in the Component Teams and Project Teams.
We are looking for
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or related
5+ years of experience in electromechanical product development within a manufacturing company
Relevant knowledge of component technology; acquainted with component modeling tools (statistical, de-rating, lifetime, thermal, electrical)
Experience with BOM, ECO and documentation
Proven success working in a cross functional organization
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
Experience managing change
Strong database management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Access)
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future company sponsorship needs.
