What Manufacturing Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health

Engineering is responsible for performing research and analyses to develop design options for components, products, systems and processes.

Manufacturing Engineering is responsible for developing manufacturing processes, production floor layouts and associated tools. Reviews new designs for manufacturability. Designs process improvements to reduce product cost, process cycle time and improved product quality.

Responsibilities

  • Leads product design engineering and drives both improvements and cost savings.

  • Ensures regulatory compliance of engineering designs.

  • Reviews and approves finances behind any engineering design changes and implementations.

  • Collaborates with Marketing and Sales to identify areas of product improvement.

  • Design, implement, and maintain automation solutions to optimize manufacturing processes and meet growing demand efficiently.

  • Lead validation efforts to ensure compliance with regulatory standards, including IQ, OQ, and PQ validation for automation systems.

  • Identify and implement emerging automation technologies such as collaborative robots, advanced vision systems, and SCADA systems to drive innovation and competitiveness.

  • Integrating safety protocols and adhering to standards such as NFPA 70E and NFPA 79 to improve workplace safety and minimize risks.

  • Program PLC's, HMI's and Servo's to application specific requirements.

  • Create and maintain Electrical schematics and panel layouts using AutoCAD.

  • Design control and motion architecture.

  • Provide support and participate in check out, commissioning and startup of new projects.

  • Maintain the existing control systems and programmable logic controllers.

  • Provide estimates for the control system and instrumentation portion of capital projects.

  • Assist in the development of long-term planning for the control system: future upgrades and capacity expansion.

  • Assist Maintenance and Operations in troubleshooting instrumentation and control system problems.

  • Participate in the development, acquisition, and documentation of Process Safety Management (ie. Electrical classification, safety interlocks, alarms).

  • Have comprehensive knowledge of basic engineering concepts and their applications. Develop and expand areas of technical expertise.

  • Perform other duties as required to meet the needs of the business and ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 4-8 years of experience, preferred.

  • Minimum 2 years Technical College or Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, preferred

Anticipated salary range: $87,900-$131,880

What is expected of you and others at this level

  • Experience in Machine Controls Design, PLC programming and Motion Control a plus.

  • Able to read and understand Electrical Schematics and panel layouts.

  • Ability to diagnose, and fix mechanical, electrical and software related issues.

  • Able to read and decipher programming by other engineers.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to work with vendors and customers.

  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Proficient with Windows, and Microsoft Office applications.

  • AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.

  • Mechanical aptitude.

  • Detail oriented.

  • Able to adjust to changing specifications and schedules.

  • Provides Training

  • May contribute to the development of policies and procedures.

  • May act as a mentor to less experienced colleagues.

  • Completes work independently; receives general guidance on new projects.
