Job Summary

AECOM is actively seeking a highly motivated Construction Manager for immediate employment for on-site assignments on USAID projects within the Middle East region. This is a temporary position, expecting to last 3 months. The selected individual will be required to be on-site for the duration of employment and the selected candidate will deploy immediately.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for all aspects of construction supervision including, managing AECOM local subcontractors, planning, organizing, staffing, leading, and controlling activities for a wide range of multi-disciplinary ongoing infrastructure projects; projects include a combination of roadway improvements, water infrastructure, and water treatment. Additional projects will be added as upcoming designs are completed and awarded for construction

  • Responsible for developing and implementing systems to ensure that construction contractors’ quality and safety standards meet requirements; responsible for review of progress and final payment requests for accuracy as a true reflection of the actual executed works

  • Be proactive in identifying any changes in scope, time, or budget in construction activities

  • Monitor progress and report to USAID any anticipated delays that might impact the timeliness of the construction contractor’s performance

  • Responsible for the timely communication of contract issues with USAID, the construction contractor, and the site team

  • Act as the primary liaison between the project, USAID, and other necessary government representatives for construction related issues

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • 10+ years of experience in being a lead in construction management for large infrastructure programs

  • PE license or equivalent licensing from other countries, as applicable

  • English language fluency, as well as excellent written and oral communications skills

  • Strong leadership experience in human resources management and the ability to work in cross-cultural situations with political, cultural and ethnic sensitivities and security environments similar to those found throughout the Middle East

  • Ability to deploy immediately if selected

  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in related field

  • 5+ years’ experience overseeing construction in the Middle East and/or Developing Country environment

  • Familiarity with FAR and FIDIC based Construction Contracts
