This position assists the System Support Engineer 1 with problem resolution and works closely with Senior Engineers, Network Engineers, and other System Engineers on project execution. This is the lead role for the daily monitoring, updating, and optimizing of our systems and also has a shared responsibility for designing and deploying new services to the community.

Work in conjunction with the Network Engineer to monitor application performance levels across the infrastructure Provide level 2/3 support for help desk to diagnose and resolve systems, application, backup, and network issues Ability to troubleshoot Windows 7/10 and Server 2003/2008/2012/2016. Interface with vendors when necessary for advanced troubleshooting Plan and execute regular software and hardware updates Track and document systems configurations and changes while adhering to the University's change management procedures Maintain adequate levels of file and system backups both on and off-site and perform regular recovery tests to ensure the University's ability to recover from a disaster Consult with faculty and staff to align IT systems with the academic, business, and clinical needs. Research solutions and improvements to current systems. In charge of updates, upgrades and recommendations of improvements. Provide the applications and development team a test environment that mimics production as closely as possible Ability to reverse engineer and document the system and or application. Assist with the migration of test systems into production Provide reports and summaries to management as needed Conduct system audits to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines Perform standby operations with others on the staff to ensure 24/7/365 operation of the college Work across the Information Services department to plan and implement new technologies with a strong focus on security and business continuity.

Required: A Bachelor?s degree (Computer Science or related field) or equivalent related experience 5+ years of systems experience in a domain environment At least two technical industry certifications - i.e. Cisco CCNA, VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSE, etc. Additional ITIL, MOF, COBIT, PMP, other process-related certifications highly desired Knowledge of VMware View, VDI, vSphere, vCenter, Veeam backup software, Cisco networking, Microsoft Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Valid driver?s license Ability to play a critical role in improving our ability to deliver services to our community Familiarity with state and federal privacy regulations Strong communication and documentation skills, including workflows, flowcharts, and Visios Organization, planning, and research skills to develop and execute well-planned projects that maintain the integrity of our production systems Flexibility to ensure the completion of assigned projects while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic environment Initiative and discipline to complete tasks without supervision Desire to learn all aspects of our infrastructure Ability provide hands-on support wherever needed Ability to participate in a 24x7x365 rotating on-call schedule
