Brookline Bancorp, Inc. Loan Servicing– Loan Analysis & Set-up Supervisor in Boston, Massachusetts

Principal Objective

This position will perform diversified functions in connection with the management and coordination of efficient and accurate handling of Commercial and Consumer loan transactions, including new loan set-up, loan modifications, coordination of systems for set-up/transactions, data entry clean-up and monitoring of loan notices and reports in the Loan Servicing Department. This position will supervise the team and be the subject matter expert, ensuring that the Team operates as efficiently as possible, by consistently striving for a best in class operation and providing superior customer service.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise the daily functions of the Team:

  • Supervises the team responsible for performing of a variety of functions for Commercial and Consumer loans including new loan set-up, loan modifications and data entry clean-up.

  • Serves as subject matter expert to interpret loan documents and loan modification requests to ensure system coding reflects the loan terms accurately.

  • Communicates effectively with Lenders and other departments to resolve issues.

  • Performs periodic audits of loan notes and loan set-up information.

  • Monitors and reviews a variety of loan notices for accuracy and reports, and performs appropriate actions required.

  • Ensures compliance with all department and bank policies and procedures.

  • Supervises all duties related to the efficient processing of reviewing, interpreting and entering loan data into the core system and ensuring loan data quality. Maintains and oversees strict approval controls for required reviews.

  • Supervises and performs file maintenance in the core system as needed or directed.

  • Functions as the coordinator between loan servicing and other departments for information and processes associated with team functions, including new loan products, lending policies and unique loan scenarios.

  • Provides supervision and direction for the Loan Servicing Loan Analysis & Set-up Team to include; monitoring the overall workflow, managing schedules to balance the workload; monitoring attendance, absences and overtime. Reviews and approves requests for time off.

  • Assists Department Head with hiring, salary adjustments, annual review assessments and performance management.

  • Identifies performance problems; provides guidance and recommends solutions.

  • Regularly monitors the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of activities performed within the Team. Identifies training opportunities and provides training as needed.

  • Develops and implements new procedures and responds to changes in systems.

  • Perform testing of new systems as needed. Ensures Team adherence with procedures.

  • Maintains employee morale and harmonious working relations; assists and advises employees as to methods of problem solving, bank procedures and policies.

  • Conducts periodic self-testing reviews to ensure tasks performed by the group have been done accurately and timely.

  • Supports the Loan Servicing Department with special projects or by temporarily performing other tasks, as assigned and coordinating with other department managers to ensure all critical tasks are performed.

Job Specifications (Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required)

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent plus a minimum of 2 years of Loan Servicing experience with both commercial and consumer loans is required.

  • Supervisory experience required, preferably in an operations or banking environment.

  • In-depth knowledge of bank operations, systems and Microsoft Office programs required.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and aptitude for figures.

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently with minimal direct supervision.

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
