System One has a temp to hire employment conversion opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer to support our client in Boston. The Geotechnical Engineer performs and leads a variety of Geotechnical Engineering tasks for environmental projects such as landfills closure, remedial excavations, slurry walls and solidification projects. Experience with SLOPE STABILITY is required.

  • Will work in both a field and office environment

  • Travel to field, meeting sites, client offices, and regulatory offices may be included.

The Geotechnical Engineer will have the following education / experience profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.

  • 3-8 years of related work experience in geotechnical investigation programs, remedial design, remedial construction, and environmental construction.

  • Must have good technical writing and communication skills as well as be independent and resourceful.

  • Must be proficient with Microsoft software.

  • Proficiency in utilizing CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with engineering is required.

  • Engineer in Training (EIT) Certificate and/or P.E. is preferred, but not required.

  • 24 or 40-hour HAZWOPER training a plus.

Position Overview:

  • Tasks consist of developing and implementing geotechnical investigation programs, performing remedial detail designs, writing reports and technical specifications, developing design drawings, performing calculations (settlement,slope stability),working with and mentoring staff, completing construction field assignments (as needed), and obtaining the necessary staff and financial management skills to grow into a Task/Project Manager.

  • Candidate must also implement behavior-based safety to strive for incident free operations (no personal injuries, property damage or environmental releases) for all clients involved.

  • Performs conventional and moderately-complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.

  • The Engineer at this level is proficient in the utilization of standard engineering theories and practices, and Company procedures. Some assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications. Willingness to travel to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.

  • Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
