Description
Job purpose:
Safely and efficiently operate or control an entire process or system of machines, often through the use of control boards, to transfer or treat water or wastewater.
Duties and responsibilities:
Monitor wastewater pre-treatment with a dissolved air floatation system
Perform various laboratory analysis
Prepare samples for testing or analysis
Perform regular maintenance of laboratory equipment by inspecting, calibrating, cleaning, or sterilizing
Prepare monitoring analysis to maintain records at all times
Monitor grease skimmer and water separator system
Operate forklift
Interact with others in a professional and ethical manner
Follow department and company procedures
Keep up regular attendance and punctuality; regular attendance and punctuality are essential for the smooth operation of this company
Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements

Massachusetts Waste Water License Grade 2 or higher
1-2 years previous work related-experience preferred; on the job training provided
High School Diploma or Equivalent; education in water/waste water treatment and/or basic laboratory skills preferred
Ability to work overtime and adjust shift start/end times when needed
Math skills
Ability to work alone or in small groups
Must be self-motivated and able to decide when to do tasks based on training and experience
Ability to diagnose problems and find solutions
Basic Computer skills for analysis and data entry
Ability to use English to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
Basic mechanical and repair skills
Maneuver up and down various types of stairways and ramps, to include small steps.
Assess water treatment quality and make changes as necessary
Must be able to position self to maneuver around machinery and make chemical adjustments.
Regular lab work, which can be done sitting down.
Use and maintain chemical pumps and laboratory equipment
Exposed to greasy conditions and strong odors common in the rending industry
Uses personal protective equipment including safety glasses, gloves, masks and safety shoes
Operates computer and other office productivity machinery such as calculator, copy machine and printer
Operates and uses a forklift.
Ascend/descend ladders to check levels in tanks and skimmers
Bending, moving and working on slippery and/or uneven floors
Lifts heavy weights (Pumps, Bags of Polymer, Etc.) of 50 to 100lbs.
Bend over to open and close water, chemical and grease valves.
Manually open a large roll up door
Exposed to work in outdoor weather conditions
