HighRes Biosolutions helps scientists accelerate drug discovery, high throughput genotyping, siRNA screening, next-generation sequencing sample prep, biorepository science and molecular diagnostics with highly flexible, expandable and modular integrated systems, bench-top devices and consumables that are easily configured (and reconfigured) to create research environments conductive to achieving breakthrough results.

The Continuous Improvement Leader drives HighRes Biosolutions toward the achievement of higher levels of customer satisfaction and reduced operational costs, while minimizing inefficiencies by leading break through continuous improvement projects across our business. Typically the efforts are formalized as projects with defined goals, scope and timelines and would involve leading cross-functional teams. Tools used during the project could include Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, 5S, advanced statistics and financial analysis. The incumbent must be a self-starter who is comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment to reach common objectives with aggressive schedules.

Reports to Vice President Operations

  • The principal role of the Continuous Improvement Leader is to improve operations generally focusing on opportunities to reduce cost, expand capacity, minimize inventory, shorten lead time, improve quality and productivity, increase safety, lessen waste and environmental impact, and enhance customer relations.

  • Develop a broad understanding of critical HighRes Biosolutions processes – Order to Invoice, Requisition to Pay, Forecast/Demand to Stock, etc.

  • Work on projects independently, as a part of or by leading a team.

  • Develop all aspects of effective project management to convert opportunities to realization including:

  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in support of company goals

  • Performing cost-benefit analyses to prioritize opportunities,

  • Presenting analyses to obtain approval

  • Upon approval, driving opportunities to timely closure using the DMAIC or equivalent processes.

  • Act as a change agent, technical resource and mentor to other project managers.

  • Suggest and occasionally develop training programs – Six Sigma, Lean, 5S, etc.

  • Stay current with new technologies and practices and, where appropriate, incorporate into the HighRes Biosolutions continuous improvement tool set through training material development and leading classes.

  • Compile, assess, and analyze test data. Based on data and historical performance suggest upgrades and changes. Work with manufacturing leader and manufacturing personnel to develop suggestions for manufacturability recommendations.

  • Assists manufacturing leader with root cause analysis and development of corrective actions for failures.

  • Support manufacturing leader and peers by anticipating problems, providing input on solutions, reacting productively to change and handling other tasks as assigned.

  • Bachelors, Masters or PhD degree in business, engineering, science or equivalent.

  • 5+ years managerial or project management experience.

  • Able to develop strong and effective teams. The successful candidate will have demonstrated competency in leading small teams where no reporting authority exists.

  • Excellent written, oral and computer skills. Microsoft Office tool literacy especially Excel, Access and Visio.

  • Hard working, self-motivated, fast learner, and well-organized

  • Energetic, enthusiastic, flexible and creative.

  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple projects

  • Bias for action

  • Continuous Improvement certification – Black Belt certification preferred

  • Additional professional certifications a plus (APICS, etc.)

  • Exposure in working with all levels of the organization.

  • The candidate should have strong presentation skills, and be able to effectively communicate to both small and large groups.

Willingness to contribute outside of defined job description when necessary

Working Conditions:

  • Work is primarily in a general office setting.

  • Drive/fly to vendor or customer locations as needed – <10% travel
